A herd of bad-tempered cows have invaded a beach and stolen all the best sunbathing spots - even taking a dip in the sea and leaving bewildered sun-seekers to sit frustrated on nearby rocks.

Jackie Holden, 47, witnessed cows when she walked towards Gadding Dam, West Yorkshire, on Saturday August 13.

She spotted the unusual sight of 24 cows lying on the beauty spot, often dubbed "Todmorden Beach".

The 47-year-old watched in amazement as bathers were forced to lie by the beach as the cheeky flock swam lay on the golden sands taking in the best sun spots.

Microbiologist Jackie says she kept her distance after being chased by cows before - but warned that some visitors were taking 'dangerous' risks by letting their children 'swim among them'.

In other images taken on Sunday and posted on social media, Ms Holden noticed that the cows were back for a second day of sunshine...
