HS2 bosses continue to buy houses along the northern part of the project, more than a month after it was scrapped

Company created to carry out project moves forward with 201 property purchases

HS2 bosses are still buying dozens of properties along part of the route which has was deleted over a month ago.

The private company set up to deliver the high-speed rail project is ahead with 201 property purchases, the Daily Mail can reveal.

< p class="mol-para-with-font">Internal figures show 100 of these are along the Birmingham-Manchester section, which was abandoned by Rishi Sunak over concerns regarding skyrocketing costs.

Another 101 are along the Birmingham-East Midlands Parkway, which the Prime Minister announced will was abandoned at the Conservative Party conference in early October.

Internal estimates suggest the properties are collectively worth between £60 million and £100 million.
