Kane quashes rumors linking him with 'top club' Bayern - 'I'm focusing on Tottenham'

Harry Kane insists his entire 'focus' is on Tottenham despite rumors linking him to 'top, top club' Bayern Munich.

The striker, who is out of contract in the summer of 2024, is a reported target for the Bundesliga champions next summer as they search for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

But the 29-year-old didn't bite when asked about a potential move to Germany ahead of Spurs' Champions League Group D game against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.

"I'm focused on Tottenham Hotspur and trying to do our best," he said. "Of course Bayern are a top club, but all my focus is on Tottenham and I'm trying to win tomorrow night."

Spurs are in the midst of a frantic run of fixtures ahead of the World Cup, with 10 games over the next 32 days, raising inevitable fears over possible injuries, especially as Kane has received blows in the last two games.

Coming into the tournament at 29 and with realistic hopes of leading England to glory, Kane could be excused for having his eye on Qatar.

But he insists he is only focused on Tottenham's next games and is not worried about avoiding injuries.

"I feel like every time you think about injuries, every time you think about hurting yourself, it almost has the wrong effect," he said.

"I go into every game trying to give 120% for the team and that's how football is. Sometimes you can be unhappy and hurt yourself.

"From my point of view, I do a lot of things, not just at the club but outside the club, to make sure I recover well and get in the best possible physical condition so I don't get hurt but, of course we know that in football anything can happen.

"But it doesn't change my way of playing or my way of thinking. It would be wrong to do that. I go into every game trying to give my best for the team and the club. And try to focus on that.

"It's going to be strange. Personally, I try to put it in the back of my mind and focus on Tottenham because that's all we can do.

"We have a game every three or four days. It's going to be strange considering we have such a busy schedule. We're going to play, play, play.

"Normally you have six weeks of preparation for a major tournament. Now we are going to have a week to focus on that feeling and focus on the biggest tournament in football.

"That will probably be the hardest thing.

"But we prepare so much here. We work so hard for every game we play for our club. I don't really think about the World Cup.

"I try to focus on one match at a time and do my best. That's what I will continue to do."

Kane is yet to score in the Champions League in three group games so far, but his domestic form is still going strong, scoring eight goals in the opening nine Premier League games.

Under normal circumstances he would have attracted a lot of attention, but Erling Haaland's exploits at Manchester City saw him fly under the radar.

But Kane isn't concerned about Haaland's frenzy.

"He's had a fantastic start to the season and all the credit goes to him, but I can't control anything," he said. "I focus on what I can do and help the team in any way I can.

"It's been going well so far in the Premier League. I want to try and score a few more Champions League goals, that's for sure. People are talking about him and rightly so because he's had a fantastic start .

"We have a long way to go and there are a lot of games to come. I'm just focusing on what I can do."
