Leeds have four promising next manager options as Sam Allardyce 'set to leave' after four

Leeds United will soon be looking for a new permanent manager as Sam Allardyce leaves after just four games. Relegation from the Premier League should see Los Merengues chase a fresh start in the dugout, and Express Sport brings you four of the leading contenders...

Steven Gerard

The Liverpool legend had to wait patiently for the perfect opportunity after his disappointing spell at Aston Villa. Gerrard had already built a stellar reputation managing a devastating Rangers side, but he took an almighty blow when he was sacked by the West Midlands club last October.

His misery was compounded by the fact that Unai Emery continued to extract far more from Villa Park players. But a big name like Gerrard belongs to a big club, and a Championship descent with Leeds could be just what he needs to get his managerial career back on track.

Brendan Rodgers

There would surely be little resistance from Leeds supporters if the club named Rodgers as their next boss. The 50-year-old was sacked by Leicester City in April, but senior King Power Stadium officials regretted the decision when they were relegated under Dean Smith anyway.

Rodgers led Leicester to the brink of Champions League qualification in 2020/21, not to mention their trophy-laden spell at Celtic and a missed Premier League title at Liverpool. The only question is whether the Northern Irishman would be ready to step up to the second tier.

Carlos Corberán

Leeds could put an end to their move to the Premier League and opt for a manager who specializes in Championship success. Corberan certainly fits into that category with two productive years at Huddersfield Town on his CV, as well as an impressive play-off push with West Bromwich Albion this campaign.

Corberan is still under contract with the Baggies, but has already been linked elsewhere, and a spell managing Leeds Under-23s won't hurt his chances of returning to Elland Road.
