Liz Truss' job as Prime Minister hung 'by a thread' tonight as Tory MPs plotted to get rid of her.

They want their backbencher Sir Graham Brady to urge Ms Truss to leave in silence.

On Friday, she fired her friend, Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng, for delivering the mini-budget she ordered. She made another U-turn on taxes, but that didn't end the economic turmoil.

And its new chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, was slammed by a guest on Radio 4's Today program yesterday.

Miriam Margolyes, 81, paying tribute to fellow Harry Potter star Robbie Coltrane, said: "When I saw him there I just said, 'You have a great job, good luck!" I really meant was f**** g b***** d! But you can't say that."

The clip was tweeted and after less than an hour it had over 3,000 likes and nearly 1,000 retweets.

Sir Graham, Chairman of the 1922 Committee, has already warned Mrs Truss three times of the danger she is in.

Even last week, he had received around 120 letters of defiance of the prime minister.

Party rules are expected to change to oust Ms Truss and Sir Graham must first form a new 1922 executive on Tuesday.

They will then be able to send a delegation to No10 to tell Mrs. Truss that her time is up. The only things likely to hold his hand would be a rally in the pound when markets open tomorrow...
