Madrid feels like Mbappe's 'home', says PSG star despite decision to avoid Los Blancos

Kylian Mbappe has hinted that a future move to Real Madrid is entirely possible, saying the club feels like his 'home'.

Mbappe was expected to join Madrid when his contract expires in June, but he instead committed his future to Paris Saint-Germain until 2025 in a shock move that sparked fury in Spain .

His new contract with PSG, which would include a signing bonus of 100 million euros, expires at the end of the 2024-25 season.

Mbappe will still be just 26 by then, illustrating a point apparently made by Emmanuel Macron when the French president made his case for the World Cup winner to stay in his home country .

"I never imagined that I was going to speak with the president about my future, my future in my career, so it's something crazy, really something crazy," Mbappe said in a interview with the New York Times.

"He [Macron] said to me, 'I want you to stay.' I don't want you to leave now. You are so important to the country.'”

According to Mbappe, Macron added: "You have time to leave, you can stay a bit longer."

Mbappe was unclear whether he would take the opportunity to swap Paris for Madrid when the opportunity arises again, but conceded he felt the club had dominated the narrative of his career despite never playing for Los Blancos.

"You never know what's going to happen," Mbappe added. "You've never been there, but it feels like home, or something."

Mbappe, however, dismissed talk of the signing bonus and the massive contract awarded to him by PSG as the reason for his decision to stay.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, keen to build a Champions League-winning side, claimed amid the fallout from Mbappe's decision that Madrid had offered more money.

Mbappe said of his large financial compensation: "Wherever I go, I'm going to make money. I'm that type of player wherever I go."
