Marvel's Avengers' Thor Loses His Helmet In New MCU Skin Variant

Crystal Dynamics continues to follow the trend of selling Marvel Cinematic Universe skins in Marvel's Avengers without the helmet. The studio is now selling a helmetless variant of the Thor skin from the 2011 film of the same name.

This "headless" variant hit the store on January 12 and costs 500 credits (about $5) for those who own the original version. There is also a pack that sells for both 1900 credits and a list that only has the one without the helmet for 1400 credits. The outfit with the helmet originally arrived in the game on April 14, 2022.

Putting on helmetless variations of MCU costumes is a recent trend for Crystal Dynamics that began with the team selling another version of the Captain America 2012 Avengers skin that showed Cap's full head. Many voiced their complaints about this practice in replies to tweets about these skins, noting that such small changes should be free for owners of the base costume. This one was also specifically called out because, without the helmet, it looks amazingly like the skin from the 2012 movie Avengers.

The associated War Table post also notes that the Rooskaya Protocols limited event is entering its second week and that Thor, Hulk, and Black Panther are all getting triple experience through January 19th. All dismounts, emotes and nameplates and most MCU and non-MCU outfits are also 50% off for these characters.
