Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon: Everything We Know About Ana Lily Amirpour's Next Movie Starring Kate Hudson

At the House of Insane Teenagers (that's what the movie calls it, not us), a young woman named Mona Lisa Lee uses her mysterious superpowers to escape. As she wanders the overwhelming streets of New Orleans, she encounters colorful characters, the most colorful of which is an exotic dancer named Bonnie Belle. While she takes pity on the young girl, she also sees her abilities as a way to earn some quick cash. However, the bond between the two grows as the hunt for Mona intensifies.

While Kate Hudson is probably the big draw for those unfamiliar with Amirpour's work, she's not the only notable name attached to the project. For starters, she's not playing the titular Mona: it'll be Jeon Jong-seo, who is making her English debut in the role after appearing in "Burning" and "Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area." While her resume isn't long, it's certainly impressive, and I hope "Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon" introduces her talent to a whole new audience. Meanwhile, Hudson will play Bonnie, the schemer with a heart of gold.

Joining Jeon and Hudson is Craig Robinson ("Brooklyn Nine-Nine"), who plays disgruntled police detective Harold. Given that Mona is a very volatile and dangerous escapee with superpowers, it's probably no wonder he's a little stressed about the situation. Ed Skrein also stars as Fuzz, an aspiring DJ, while Evan Whitten plays Bonnie's son, Charlie.
