2023: Imumolen d'Accord bets on a new strategy to end insecurity in Nigeria

With several unguarded routes through which illegal aliens flock to Nigeria, Accord's presidential candidate, Professor Christopher Imumolen, has pledged to tackle and protect Nigeria's borders in order to stem the growing wave of insecurity in the country.

If elected president of Nigeria in 2023, Imumolen, who spoke when he received the Accord Party leaders in Abuja, said he would work diligently to ensure that a Greater attention be given to the issue of effective management of Nigeria's borders in order to stem the influx of undesirable elements into the country.

“Nigeria is going through its most difficult times due to a porous border system that continues to allow the illegal movement of equipment, drugs, contraband, firearms and people with questionable intentions into the country,” observed Imumolen.

"The consequence is that the country is reeling from the aftermath of such neglect, as it continues to witness an unfortunate increase in murders, kidnappings and other unwarranted vices," he said. he lamented.

“But a nation that is serious about achieving lasting peace must not allow the current situation to continue, as it could ultimately derail the goal of economic growth as well as our stability as a sovereign country.

"So the way forward will be for us to take a holistic look at the current border system we operate in order to make the necessary adjustments.

“First, we would need to look at the more than 1,400 illegal unguarded and unmanned roads that make us so vulnerable as a country.

“And according to available statistics, the country has only around 84 approved border control systems to combat the huge volume of movement entering the country from different points – north, east, west and south – on a daily basis.

“My administration will do everything in its power to increase the number of approved border control systems to an appreciable level in order to minimize, if not completely eradicate, the unhindered access that foreigners currently have in our country.

“I am confident that once this is done, our country will begin to move rapidly towards a system of security, economic prosperity and general well-being guaranteed for its citizens,” he said.
