Elections 2023: Be fully involved, Prelate of the Eternal Sacred Order of C&S, instructs members

THE Prelate of the Worldwide Sacred Eternal Order of Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S), His Eminence, Baba Aladura, (Dr) David Bob-Manuel, has charged members of the Sacred Order to participate fully in the next general election, ensuring they obtain their permanent voter cards (PVCs) and prayerfully vote for leaders with the solution to the myriad challenges facing the country.< /p>

The cleric gave the charge recently at a global press conference to mark the celebration of his 5th thanksgiving program in Lagos.

The Prelate said that for the country to achieve greatness, every Nigerian must be prepared to play their part in carrying out their civic responsibilities through the ballot box to elect leaders who can lead the country in the right meaning.

While calling on the country's youth not to allow themselves to be used as thugs by politicians to disrupt the country's electoral process, Baba Aladura argued that it would be wrong for Nigerians to expect a new life, without obeying the counsels of God.

"Do not expect a miracle to happen overnight. The fact remains that the average Nigerian does not fear God. If we can fear God and carry out His commands, I believe He is a Merciful God. Yes, things are difficult. But the question is: is it His will for us? Didn't you and I cause this? he asked rhetorically.

He also stressed the need for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be truly free from interference, to enable it to perform its functions independently and to ensure that the process is free, equitable and credible for the sustainability of democracy in Nigeria.

The Prelate also took the opportunity to call on members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the federal government to bury their hatchets and reverse the ongoing industrial action launched by the union, noting that a prolonged hiatus in university education would continue to undermine human capital development and render certificates earned in the country's higher education institutions of little or no value.

Giving a scorecard of his tenure, five years after his enthronement, the cleric said he was delighted that the church had grown by leaps and bounds under his leadership, as evidenced by the recent dedication of a pro - over 9,000-seat cathedral, one of the largest church buildings in Diobu, Rivers State.

He also reiterated the church leadership's commitment to the primary goal of evangelism and winning souls for Christ.
