Appoint party supporters as ministers, Tinubu urges APC

A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress, Bukie Okangbe, has called on President Bola Tinubu to consider appointing party loyalists who worked for his victory as a priority when appointing his cabinet.

That was even as she congratulated Tinubu on his emergence as the new president of the Economic Community of West African States on Sunday.

The national coordinator of the National Progressive Hub made the call in a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja.

The development comes on the heels of Tinubu's election as President of the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS.

Okangbe said: "Your emergence as the new President of the Economic Community of West African States is a confirmation of exemplary leadership capacity, competence and experience that transcends coast of Nigeria. This shows you as a man capable of not only providing leadership for his country but also for the regional African continent.

"While congratulating His Excellency, let us also use this medium to implore you on the need to make your cabinet a reflection of dedicated, committed and hardworking party loyalists who worked and sacrificed for APC's victory in of the last presidential election. For us, this will go a long way to affirming the principle of fairness that you are known for and to ending the poor reward system that our great party has long fought against.

"We pray that your reign will bring greater economic, political and social stability and prosperity to the West African region and the continent as a whole."
