Anti-Mass Commercial Motorcyclist Prohibition Policy - Oluwo to FG

The nationwide ban on motorcyclists proposed by the federal government has been described as an anti-mass policy that could further cause banditry and other forms of crime in the country.

This is because the federal government has been advised to design digital regulation of commercial motorcyclists in place of an outright ban.

Making his position known, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, in a statement made available by Alli Ibraheem, his chief press officer, noted that the ban will also increase unemployment which is already plaguing the the country.

Oluwo, while acknowledging the danger this posed to Nigeria's security, advised that commercial motorcyclists should be vetted for effective identification and monitoring.

The traditional ruler felt that this would make it easier to identify genuine members for the disclosure of criminals using the service to pose a security threat.

According to the Oba Akanbi, "the service of commercial motorcyclists must be controlled for effective identification and monitoring of genuine members, for easy disclosure of criminals using the service to pose a threat to our security.

"This will help security guards quell insecurity and catch criminals using Okada to perpetrate evil.

"The service is essential, especially in areas without motorable roads. Banning it will add to the difficulties of commuters."

He said that unemployment, as a major factor of insecurity, was overcome by the many unemployed graduates who resorted to riding commercial motorcycles to avoid engaging in social vices.< /p>

He pointed out that not all commercial motorcyclists have criminal tendencies.
