Bundesliga: Nigerian Boniface scores twice as Leverkusen crushes Darmstadt

New signing Victor Boniface scored twice for the second straight week as Bayer Leverkusen beat Darmstadt 98 5-1 on Saturday.

The result means Bayer Leverkusen have won three out of three league games for a perfect start to the Bundesliga.

The 22-year-old Nigerian netted twice in last week's win over Borussia Moenchengladbach, while netting once in the German Cup.

He joined Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium a month ago, but he has taken over.

Boniface opened his account with a superb solo run and scored his goal in the 21st minute after passing three defenders.

Darmstadt equalized with a close-range header from Oscar Vilhelmsson, but Xabi Alonso's side came back in front four minutes after the restart through Exequiel Palacios.

Boniface then scored his second goal of the afternoon, slipping into the box and sending the ball past the keeper from a tight angle after a quick pass.

Jonas Hofmann's 20-yard strike made it 4-1, wiping out any chance of a comeback in Darmstadt.

Substitute Adam Hlozek then stepped in to add another and keep his side with a maximum of nine points from three games.
