Champions League: Leave him alone - Xavi halts Messi's return to Barcelona

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has asked that Lionel Messi be left alone as the Paris Saint-Germain superstar continues to be linked with a return to the club.

The 35-year-old is out of contract with the Ligue 1 champions at the end of the season.

Last week, Barca vice-president Eduard Romeu said it would be financially viable to bring him back to the Nou Camp.

"With Leo, we'll see, but now is not the time to talk about it right away.

"You know the love I have for him. He's a friend and I always wish him the best. Barça is his home, but we're also not doing him a favor by talking about [his future ].

"Let's leave him alone to enjoy his time in Paris and wish him the best," Xavi told a press conference ahead of Barca's Champions League game against Internazionale Tuesday.
