Be clear about your health, new corruption allegations - APC tells Atiku

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has challenged Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to come clean about his health condition and speak out about the corruption issues surrounding him .

The campaign specifically asked the PDP and the former vice president to respond to allegations of corruption made by a former aide, Michael Achimugu.

APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) Director of Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, issued the challenge in a statement he released in Abuja on Wednesday.

Mr. Achimugu recently made a few

claims on social media that Mr Atiku used the special purpose vehicle scheme to raise money from a former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye, who was found guilty of embezzlement ecological. Mr. Dariye has since been pardoned by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mr. Atiku served as vice president between 1999 and 2007, the same period that Mr. Dariye served as governor.

“It is time for Atiku Abubakar, the 76-year-old PDP presidential candidate, to speak the truth about two issues that cloud his campaign.

"His medical condition and outrageous confessions of how he colluded with his former boss, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to rob the Nigerian treasury, using special purpose vehicles as vice president in 1999.

“If Atiku has a modicum of honor, he should have withdrawn from the presidential race which he is destined to lose again,” Mr. Onanuga said.
