Defection: Anambra APC sacks Oduah loyalist

The All Progressives Congress, Anambra State Chapter, has sacked its youth leader, Innocent Nwanwa.
Nwanwa is a loyalist to former aviation minister Stella Oduah, who was also a member of the APC before defecting to the People's Democratic Party.
The development, according to APC sources, could be an action taken following Oduah's abandonment of the party.
Oduah, had joined the APC shortly before the 2021 gubernatorial election in the state, but in a dramatic twist, she returned to the PDP, where she landed the party's senatorial ticket.
Nwanwa, who spoke at a press conference in Awka on Sunday, revealed that the party sacked him as youth leader, a post he said he won in the party congress in January overseen by the party's state chairman, leader Basil Ejidike.
As a result, he said he asked the party's national leadership to right what he called a "serious injustice" against him.
He said it was wrong to punish him just because his principal (Oduah) defected to another party.
His petition read in part: "It is recorded that the APC, Anambra State Chapter, held its state convention on January 30, 2022, at which members of the current executive committee of the state, including the state chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, were elected.
"I, Hon Innocent Nwanwa, was elected as the State APC Youth Leader, and was later appointed to the Party Secretariat, Amenyi Awka. The summary of the result sheet of the state congress is attached for your kind reading sir.
"It is however true that I joined the APC with Senator Stella Adaeze Oduah, when she declared on Thursday, August 26, 2021, but I have since remained steadfast and engaged with the party, attending functions and activities party regardless of whether the senator left the party.
"It is rather surprising, embarrassing and very unfortunate for the same beneficiary of the state congress, the State Chairman of the Party, Chief Basil Ejidike, to continue to brag and intimidate me by threatening to impeachment.
“He, however, stopped inviting me to state executive meetings and various party functions, and unfairly took action, and effectively fired me and replaced me with one of his errand boys, a Mr. Jideofor Ejimofor.
"For registration purposes, Your Excellency, I am a bona fide member of the APC (enclosed is my party membership card), with number An/Ogb/16/57524. I am a native of Ogbaru and a constituent of the Iyiowa/Odekpe/Ohita ward.
"Your Excellency, please use your good offices to correct this obvious injustice and illegality, so that the party can contest the next general election in 2023 as one family."
Several appeals to APC President Basil Ejidike for his reaction turned out to be unsuccessful.
