Provide local communities with weapons to fight against insecurity, the Group calls on the FG

Fusion774, a political lobby group has called on the federal government to empower the indigenous security apparatus in local communities inside and outside the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) , to end the growing challenges of insecurity in Nigeria.

Comrade Sadiq Jitka, the national coordinator of the group, revealed this during a press briefing in Abuja on Saturday when he said that they had decided to express their concern due to of rising insecurity in the country, which has become a major concern for every Nigerian as new leaders are elected in the upcoming general elections.

Jitka explained that if local security and vigilante groups are equipped with sophisticated weapons to defend their communities when the problem of insecurity arises, they will be able to counter it without wait for conventional security agencies to intervene. their rescue.

He said the reason he advised the government to support local communities with weapons of protection is because they are the locals and know the topography of their surroundings better than conventional security, and as they can to avoid any threat to the lives and property of their people.

According to him, if the federal government listened to advice to empower local security teams in communities, it would go a long way to curbing the growing insecurity in Nigeria.

“We condemn all acts of criminality in the country. We stand in condemning the recent escape from Kuje by the terrorist group ISWAP, which led to the release of suspected dangerous elements in our society, thus aggravating the precipitation of insecurity.

"We urge the government to assume its responsibilities and redouble its efforts to stem the tide in this period of political transition, political parties who want our votes should convince us with their roadmap, their manifestos and their problem - discussions based on trivialities, not trivialities,” he said.

The group further said that the upcoming general elections in 2023 will be an opportunity for Nigerians to elect leaders capable of resolving the country's economic and security situation.

“Our participation in making things right is going to be the decision we are going to make while selecting the right leadership. We, the citizens of Nigeria, deserve good governance and we are responsible for it. The lack of consistency in governance has been a major setback for us as a country.

“We need to ensure consistency in governance while encouraging sustainable policy initiatives and ensuring user-friendly programs. It's time to take advantage of our vast population, we must invest in our people.

“Nigeria has a low human development index; the development of human resources plays a vital role in the prosperity of every nation, we are on the verge of a leap forward if we invest in our human resources, and therefore, we are tackling the lack of employment faced by the young people today,” he said.

Fusion774 also lamented that unemployment is one of the most pressing problems in Nigeria, urging Nigerians to vote for those who would guarantee young people and graduates a job after school.

"This is an issue of national emergency. When we vote for leaders in the next election, let's look at those who have the trait of building people, those who have the reputation of 'investing in people is the future we envision, we need to get it right this time, we need to get out there and vote in numbers.

"We must get our PVC today, now. Our PVC is our tool to craft good governance. We feel it is our duty to condemn the wave of insecurity in the country , the recent killing of military officers in Niger State is of great concern to us, as is what has happened in states like Zamfara, Katsina, Plateau, South East and elsewhere in Nigeria.

"I will take this opportunity to urge the PDP as a party to base its campaign on issues that affect the lives of Nigerians, not people, such as the recent attack on the Ambassador of Nigeria in Benin Republic Amb. Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Lt. Gen. Rtd.), dwelling on issues that have been duly addressed by ICPC.

"Fusion774 takes this opportunity to affirm our unwavering position on supporting credible candidates with a track record of good team selection, completed projects, people-focused programs, building the human capital and lasting legacy," he says.
