Europa League: Mourinho throws away second-place medal as Roma lose to Sevilla

Roma coach Jose Mourinho threw his second medal into the crowd after losing 4-1 to Sevilla in the Europa League final on Wednesday night.

It was the first time Mourinho had lost a European final, winning the last five teams his teams had participated in.

The Serie A side took the lead through Paulo Dybala in the first half.

Ivan Rakitic hit the post, before Gianluca Mancini's own goal leveled the game. There were no goals in extra time and the winner had to be decided via penalty shootout.

Mancini and Ibanez missed for Roma, with Sevilla converting all their spot-kicks, to lift the Europa League trophy for the seventh time.

Jose Luis Mendilibar's men are now automatically qualified for next season's Champions League.
