FRSC confirms 12 passengers killed in fatal crash at Ebonyi

The Federal Road Safety Corps confirmed the death of twelve passengers in a fatal accident on Tuesday.

Ten of the victims were reportedly women while two were men.

The accident was determined to have occurred in the community of Ezzillo along the Abakaliki-Enugu highway.

DAILY POST reports that the victims traced a fourteen (14) seater EBSU bus from Abakaliki to Enugu State to attend a funeral.

An eyewitness who spoke to reporters in Abakaliki said the EBSU bus had a head-on collision with a truck returning from Enugu State.

Confirming the incident, FRSC Ebonyi Sector Commander Uche Chukwurah said the accident involved a shuttle and a truck.

Chukwurah confirmed that the occupants of the bus were fourteen (14), twelve women and two men.

He said the two people were seriously injured in the accident that occurred in the morning.

"The accident involved a shuttle and a truck. 14 passengers were involved. 12 dead: 10 females and 2 males. The 2 injured are being treated in hospital," said the sector commander.
