Kidnapped wife of Civil Defense intelligence chief regains freedom
The kidnapped wife of the Chief of the General Commanding Special Intelligence Squad (CG'SSIS), Apollos Dandaura, Mrs. Dandaura Victoria Apollos, who was abducted by bandits, was rescued unharmed.
NSCDC Director of Public Relations, Mr Olusola Odumosu, in a statement on Saturday, said she was rescued at around 9.20pm on Friday, November 4, 2022, in Lafia, State of Nassarawa.
Victoria Apollos was abducted from their residence in Gidi-Gidi, around Cattle Market, Lafia, Nasarawa State on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at around 7:00 p.m.
The unknown gunmen stormed the residence of Deputy Commander Appolos Dandaura and took control of the surroundings by firing sporadically into the air and then taking the wife away at gunpoint.
But Odumosu said she was rescued unscathed after successful joint operations by a combined tactical component comprising the General Commander's Special Intelligence Squad (CG'S SIS), Counter Terrorism Officers (CTU) from the NSCDC and the NSCDC Special Female Squad (SFS) in conjunction with the Nigerian Army (NA), Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigerian Police (NPF).
Apollos's younger brother, ASC1 Ezekiel Dandaura Samu, a Corps member serving in the Nasarawa State Command, who was shot and injured in the attack, is still receiving treatment at a hospitalized facility and is in stable condition.
"The NSCDC Commanding General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, wishes to appreciate the efforts, maximum support and cooperation of the sister security agencies during this rescue operation.
“He assured the general public that the Corps under his leadership will continue to protect lives, properties and all national and critical infrastructure in the country,” Odumosu said.
