Fully loaded tanker explodes in Lagos

Several trucks, including tankers, were torched on Tuesday afternoon as a tanker truck fully loaded with diesel caught fire at the articulated truck park, Otto Wharf, in the Mile 2 area of Lagos State.

While the cause of the fire has yet to be determined at the time of writing this report, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed it.

The fire reportedly started from one of the tankers.

The fire would have spread instantly to other vehicles that were parked in the park.

Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service firefighters and LASEMA officials were still battling Tuesday night to extinguish the blaze.

The extent of the damage also could not be determined at the time of filing this report.

LASEMA spokeswoman Nosa Okunbor confirmed the incident and also added that agency personnel and other responders were witnessing the incident.
