'Furious' Ten Hag 'tears' in Man Utd stars and cancels day off; makes a desperate appeal for boarding

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag was so angry with his team's performance against Brentford that he canceled their day off, reports claim.

The Red Devils were embarrassed by Brentford 4-0 on Saturday in which the Bees scored all four of their first-half goals.

It was the first time in their Premier League history that Man Utd trailed four at half-time with goals from Josh Dasilva, Mathias Jensen, Ben Mee and Bryan Mbeumo doing the business.

Talking about their performance after the game, Ten Hag said: "On the one hand Brentford were hungrier, and on the other hand we conceded with individual errors.

"You may have a good plan, but then you throw it away.

"I don't think it has anything to do with tactics. The first two goals are about ball management and decisions.

"I think they follow my instructions, but they make bad decisions. This is football, it's a game of mistakes and we have been punished.

"When the results are like this, I can imagine (how the fans) feel. There's no point in showing that clearly, and we need to change that. We need more hunger on the pitch as as a team and individually."

And The Times claims that Ten Hag "ripped his Manchester United players apart, then called off their day off after the humiliating 4-0 loss to Brentford".

The defeat to the Bees followed United's opening matchday loss to Brighton, with the manager and players already under intense pressure just two games into the season.

The Times add:

'Ten Hag was back at his office at United's Carrington base early this morning after he and the team returned from London last night.

"The team was supposed to have the day off today, but ten Hag was so furious with his players' performance that he told them to report to Carrington this morning for an extra training session."

Ten Hag also "begged the United board to sign new players before the transfer window closes on September 1".

David de Gea erred for Brentford's opener with Dasilva's long-range shot squirming under the Spaniard and into the net.

Talking after the game "It's hard to be honest. It's still hard times. I say it often, but I know the guys and everyone works hard.

"I work hard, the manager works really hard, so this is the start.

"We made a big change so these are just the first games. We have to improve a lot, listen to what the manager wants and of course start winning games.

"It doesn't matter who we play against. We have to prepare very well for the game. We have a long week.

"It's going to be tough of course, after this loss. But let's put our lives in training, put our lives in games, and let's play for the badge and our pride."
