Gombe police arrest six suspects for alleged rape and armed robbery

The Gombe State Police Command has arrested three suspects for the alleged rape of three underage girls and indecent behavior towards four other girls at different locations.

Those arrested for the alleged rape are Sani Adamu, 50, from Kagarawal neighborhoods; Adamu Muhammed, 40 years old from Malam Inna neighborhoods and Bakura Muhammed 30 years old from Malam Inna neighborhoods all in the metropolis of Gombe.

According to a press release from Command PPRO, ASP Mahid Mu'azu Abubakar reported that on 03/07/2023 at approximately 11:00 a.m., an official complaint was filed at Gombe Divisional Police Headquarters by a certain Aliyu Adamu from the neighborhoods of Malam Inna and Alhaji Abba attached to the National Commission for Human Rights Gombe that on 6/03/2023 around 2 p.m. and between January and March 2023, at a different time and place, the aforementioned suspects lured three of his daughters from Kagarawal, Gombe neighborhoods and had a carnal relationship with them without consent.

The PPRO said the victims and suspects were taken to the police clinic for medical examinations, after which the suspects confessed to the crime and the case will soon be taken to court for prosecution.

Similarly, on 03/07/2023 at around 11:00 a.m., the said Complainant, Adamu Ali reported that between January and March 2023, a 38-year-old Abubakar Muhammed from the neighborhoods of Malam-Inna, Gombe used his thumb fingers of both her hands and legs and inserted it into the private part of her four biological daughters aged 8, 9, 12 and 14 at Duba Danul huda islamiyya Malam Inna qtrs Gombe school.

The suspect happens to be their Islam teacher at school. The victims and the suspect were taken to the police clinic for medical examination and the suspect confessed to the crime and will be arraigned for prosecution.

Also, for criminal association and armed robbery, Abdullahi Muhammed, 25 years old and Adamu Ali, 22 years old, all from Bolari district, Gombe.

On 03/10/2023 around 11:00 a.m., the men of Operation Hattara received a distress call indicating that the suspects named above were in the neighborhoods of Bogo stealing their belongings.

One of the victims was on his way to pick up her children from school when the two suspects came from behind with cutlasses and attacked her from behind and retrieved the phone.

The team successfully rescued a Fatima Muhammed from Bogo neighborhoods and recovered her Nokia handset, the suspects were arrested and confessed to the crime, including recovered exhibits; A Gionee smartphone, a Nokia keyboard and two cutlass. The case will soon be taken to court for prosecution.

The Command again called on parents or guardians to monitor their children more closely and monitor their activities in schools, shopping or playing with their peers in public places, especially girls, and to ensure that measures to increase the risk of opportunities for these heinous crimes against young people/children.
