How to keep your children safe during summer vacation

It's no news that the summer holidays are here and it's an opportunity for parents, especially those with their children in boarding school, to spend some quality time with their wards.

While we plan to make the most of this holiday with our children, it is also important to ensure that their safety is guaranteed.

The need to keep our children safe during this summer break cannot be overstated. In our society today, cases of kidnapping, rape and other vices have become commonplace.

1. Keep them with relatives or trusted neighbors

As working parents, we are expected to keep our children safe during the summer holidays at work. So, if you have trusted relatives around you, you can allow your children to spend the week with them while you pick them up on the weekend. 2. Don't leave them alone

Children become vulnerable to danger when left alone, especially during this summer break. 3. Keep them engaged

For guardians or parents of children under 10, it is important to keep all sharp objects away. When the kitchen is not in use, ensure that it is locked to prevent children from having unrestricted access.

5. Take some time off

For parents working in organizations where they receive annual leave, they can, if possible, schedule their leave during the children's summer vacation. This is in order to have enough time to watch their pupils.

6. Give rules

Another way to keep our children safe during summer vacation is to give them rules to guide their behavior at home. For children over the age of four, a list of rules must be created which must be strictly adhered to and a punishment must be given to anyone who breaks any of the rules.

7. No visitors should be allowed in your absence

Any time you're not home with your kids during this break, make sure they don't allow any visitors. You can find a secret code that is known only to you and your children, so if someone knocks without saying the secret code, those people, no matter who they are in the family, will not be allowed in your absence.
