Former Abia State Governor Theodore Orji explained why he decided not to seek re-election to the Senate saying that he decided to resign from active politics in order to allow the younger generation to make their own contribution to the country's development. .

Senator Orji dropped the hint during a conversation with reporters at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja after receiving an award as a board member of the University of Ibadan .

The award was presented to him in his office by the President of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association, Professor Gabriel Nyityo.

Orji said, "I'm retiring from politics to give an opportunity to the younger generation, that's why I'm not coming back to the Senate.

”I expect the younger generation to do better than me to achieve a better society. I don't expect them to feature juvenile delinquency characters when they come to the office.

“They must behave responsibly in everything they do in order to have an impact on the younger generation. The Senate is a responsible place and a real platform to show their talent and intelligence given by God, he stressed.

Senator Theodore Orji therefore called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to announce the zoning arrangements for key officers of the National Assembly to ease the tension created by the party due to the delay in the announcement of zoning arrangements.

According to him, “APC produced the majority number of senators and elected members who would make up the 10th Senate and House of Representatives. The majority would always produce the President or the President of the Senate. CPA leaders to vote on location of Senate Speaker's post.

"It is when they vote that Nigerians will know the geopolitical area they support for the position of President or Speaker of the Senate. That is when we will know who we would support.

“If it is zoned southeast, we will come out to announce our preference among those challenging the position at this time. The statement is very vital at this time,” he said.

Speaking on the award as a member of the University of Ibadan Board of Trustees, he said it will give him the opportunity to contribute to the academic excellence of the University of Ibadan both physically and financially.

Also on the recent appointment of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu as General President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Senator Orji urged Ndigbo around the world to get involved to enable him to succeed in the new task.< /p>

According to him, “I am happy with the emergence of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu as General President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. He can do the job very well. He has unlimited experience in both politics and business. He is also very knowledgeable about Nigerian history.

“He has the ability to organize people because he is non-partisan. He is a straightforward person. He was begged to accept this position as he is a man of honour.< /p>

He voluntarily retired from politics. They bring him back into politics through the Ohanaeze Ndigbo. Because of his love for the Igbo nation, he decided to embark on this task.

"My program for him is to protect the interests of Igbo people around the world.
