Judge, two more victims rescued as police kill two kidnappers

The Edo State Police Command has announced the rescue of Igueben Area Customary Court President, Precious Aigbonga, who was abducted on January 9 on the Benin-Ugoneki-Eguaholor-Benin road. Ugieghudu-Ebelle.

The command said in a Friday statement in Benin by its spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, that two victims of a recent kidnapping at a train station in the state have also been released.

He said the victims were rescued by a combined team of police, military, vigilante groups, hunters and the state security team who stormed Scorpion Hills in the Egbisi forest in the state.

According to Nwabuzor, the victims were rescued on Thursday, during which two of the kidnappers were killed and forty-nine rounds of AK 47 live ammunition were recovered.

"Unfortunately, DSP Michael Adams, who was attached to the Command's Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Unit, fell ill and died shortly after the operation," he added.

He said Police Commissioner Mohammed Dankwara expressed his regret for the loss of the officer and offered his deepest condolences to the family of the late officer.
