Kogi 2023: Governor Bello receives more PDP defectors

Gov. Kogi's Yahaya Bello has received more defectors from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the fight for House Lugard intensifies.

The defectors, led by Mr. A.K. Salihu, a former two-term member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Udu Malik, former Acting Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area, are all from Okehi LGA of the 'State.

The group, in a statement issued Sunday in Lokoja by Bello's Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Onogwu Mohammed, expressed their support and hope for the victory of the candidate for the post of governor of the APC, Alhaji Usman Ododo in the November 11 elections.< /p>

The delegation also included Mr. Haruna Yusuf, who served as aide-de-camp to former Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole and also ran for the House of Representatives under the PDP .

Also included is Mr. Austin Ochu, the former PDP Spokesperson for Kogi Central Senatorial District.

Salihu, who spoke on behalf of the group, praised Bello for his development efforts, especially in securing the lives and livelihoods of people in the state.

He said their decision to align themselves with the APC was a testament to its people-oriented policies and the internal democracy that exists in the party, as well as providing essential infrastructure to citizens.

The group assured the governor of its full support for Ododo and its commitment to ensuring victory for the APC in the upcoming elections.

In response, Bello congratulated them for joining the APC and said he believed their support would be the icing on the cake for the APC's victory in the November elections.

The governor assured them of equal opportunity in the party, emphasizing that the November 11 gubernatorial election will be about the future of the state.

Bello urged the group to campaign in all three senatorial constituencies to secure a strong victory for APC flag bearer Ododo.
