A notorious alleged phone thief, identified simply as Lucky, has been hacked to death by an angry mob at Iyara community in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of ​​Delta State .

PUNCH Metro has discovered that the handset thief, who has been identified as a member of a thug gang that specializes in dispossession of victims of valuables, was caught in action at the popular Akara Junction in the locality as he attacked a young girl.< /p>

Sources said that Lucky, in his desperation to forcibly take the girl's handset away from her, stabbed her several times in one of her arms, but the girl allegedly refused to let go of her handset despite the wounds suffered by the attack.

It has been established that as the struggle continued, the girl sounded the alarm calling for help and some locals rushed to her aid. In the process, Lucky was overpowered and stabbed multiple times.

However, Lucky reportedly managed to escape the scene with multiple injuries and ran to the nearby Iyara roundabout along Cemetery Road, where he later passed away due to blood loss.

When contacted, Delta State Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.
