Commander of NNS Beecroft, Kolawale Oguntuga, while parading the suspects on the parade ground at Apapa Lagos Naval Base on Monday, said they would be handed over to the proper authorities .

Oguntuga gave the names of the suspects as Freme Adio, Onore Akwaso, Isegbejii Deli, Kosi Pascal, Dao Sure, John Abel and Buga Noel

He said, “The Nigerian Navy NNS Beecroft Patrol Team has once again demonstrated its unprecedented commitment to combating illegal supply by successfully apprehending several vessels engaged in the illegal supply which could have resulted in a shortage of products. for distribution.

"In the early morning of August 27, 2023, the state-of-the-art Falcon Eye Maritime Domain Awareness Facility observed a cluster of boats around the tanker VIRGO 1, registered in Panama.

“Upon arriving at the scene of the crime located approximately four nautical miles from the Lagos Fair-Way buoy, the patrol team discovered a network of illegal bunkering activities. Two wooden boats, loaded with hundreds of 200 liter drums and 50 liter jerrycans, were found receiving PMS via hoses from MT VIRGO 1.”
