NEMA expands distribution of KSrelief food donations to 8,000 displaced people in Borno

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Thursday announced the second phase of food distribution from items donated by the King Salman Humanitarian and Relief Center (KSrelief) for 8,000 households of displaced people in four camps and host communities in Borno. State.

NEMA Director General, Mr. Mustapha Habib Ahmed, who initiated the distribution in Maiduguri, explained that by the end of the second phase of the distribution, around 16,000 displaced households in Borno State would have benefited from KSrelief's food donation.< /p>

According to him, the first phase of the food distribution took place in December 2022.

He said the distribution would be carried out in four camps located around Maiduguri, namely: Muna Kumburi, Gongulon, Madinatu I and Madinatu II.

These, he said, are in addition to the previous distribution in December 2022, during which around 8,000 households benefited in five camps in El-Miskin, Doro, Ashiri, Shuwarin and Nganzai.

The Director General of NEMA, represented by the Director of Planning, Research and Forecasting, Hajiya Fatima Suleiman Kasim, said that each household should have a food basket of 59.8 kg, consisting of 25 kg of rice; 25 kg of beans; 4kg Masa vita flour 2kg tomato paste; liters of peanut oil; 1 kg of salt and 0.8 kg of maggi cubes.

While appreciating the King of Saudi Arabia, His Majesty, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammad Bin Salman for the donation delivered through KS relief, the CEO of NEMA, Mustapha Habib Ahmed, said the gesture would go a long way to benefit the displaced people and complement the efforts of the federal government.

He said, “Our partnership with KSrelief dates back to 2018. Between 2018 and 2021, the Center donated relief items (food baskets) to some IDPs in Borno, Yobe and Zamfara states. "

Food distribution is carried out directly to the displaced people in their places of residence in the camps by NEMA staff in collaboration with SEMA staff from Borno State.
