Okowa: Northeast PDP treasurer empties the party

People's Democratic Party Northeast Zone Treasurer Galadima Abba-Itas has resigned from his post and his party membership.

He said his decision was in response to the "unfair and unfair treatment" of a former party presidential candidate and governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike , during and after the primary party.

He said the eventual choice of Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as running mate of PDP presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar which contradicts his principles and ideologies politicians, further reinforced his decision to resign from the opposition party.

These were in a letter he signed dated July 12, 2022 addressed to the PDP Chairman of Itas Ward, Local Government Area of Itas Gadau in Bauchi State. , titled: "Letter of Resignation as Member and Zonal Treasurer, North East", and obtained by our correspondent on Tuesday.

Abba-Itas said developments within the PDP showed the opposition party was not ready to regain power in the ruling All Progressives Congress.< /p>

The letter read in part: "I am writing to tender my resignation as Zone Treasurer (North East) and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).< /p>

"My resignation is the result of extensive consultation with my team supporters, political associates and in response to the unjust and unfair treatment of His Excellency, Advocate Nyesom Ezenwo Wike CON, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, during and after the Presidential Primary Convention.

"Similarly, the unorthodox selection of His Excellency Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the running mate, (who) contradicts my political principles and ideologies, has further strengthened my resignation decision.< /p>

"As a critical stakeholder, the unjust and inequitable treatment of the Founding Members has posed a great threat to the collective political interest of our leaders and to us, which has necessitated my resignation to protest the ways things are going in the Party.

"However, the current situation of the party does not inspire confidence that the party is ready to regain power in 2023."

The letter has been received and acknowledged by the President of Itas Ward PDP.
