PDP wins all senatorial seats in Bayelsa

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the PDP candidates - Benson Agadaga, Seriake Dickson and Benson Kombowei - the winners of Saturday's Senate elections in Bayelsa State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr Dickson is a sitting legislator, Mr Agadaga is a former chief of staff to Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri, while Mr Kombowei is a former secretary of the Bayelsa State Government.

Bayelsa East Senatorial District Returning Officer Emmanuel Akpan, a professor at Federal University of Otuoke, Bayelsa, declared Mr. Agadaga the winner of the senatorial poll.

He said Agadaga garnered 22,517 votes to defeat his closest rival, Degi Eremieyor of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bayelsa West Returning Officer Professor Samuel Enahoro, also from Otuoke Federal University, declared Mr Dickson the winner of the Senate poll.

He said Mr Dickson garnered 27,231 votes to defeat his main rival, APC's Ayakpo Danyegha.

Bayelsa Central returning officer Chris Onyema, also a professor, declared Mr. Kombowei the winner of the senatorial poll.

Mr. Onyema said Kombowei garnered 51,202 votes to defeat his nearest rival, APC's Mr. Tiwei Orumiegha.
