Pete Edochie mourns his grandson, Kambilichukwu

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has mourned the passing of his grandson, Kambilichukwu Leo Yul-Edochie, who died aged 16.

Recall that Kambilichukwu, who was the first son of veteran actor Yul Edochie's last child, died on Thursday.

Pete Edochie confirmed the sad news to reporters yesterday. He said that on Wednesday his son Yul called him and told him that Kambilichukwu had collapsed while playing football with his classmates and had developed a seizure.

According to him, the deceased was rushed to Mother and Child Hospital in Lagos, where he was later confirmed dead.

He described his late grandson as an unusual person, very bright and easy-going.

"Kambilinachukwu is a very calm, bright and talented kid. He's not someone you can ride easily. He doesn't get angry no matter the situation.

"He can change his temper, but he was a very unusual person in a lot of ways," Vanguard said quoting Edochie. The legendary actor added that he always told his son that he doesn't like people who excel like Kambilinachukwu because experience has taught him that they don't last long.

Meanwhile, actor Yul Edochie reported the death of his son, Kambilichukwu Edochie, to the Lagos State Police Command.

Command spokesman SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the development on Friday morning, said the matter would be forwarded to the state Criminal Investigation Department on Friday [today] for investigation.
