Peter Obi running as independent candidate – Aisha Yesufu

Famous Nigerian social critic Aisha Yesufu has argued that Labor Party presidential candidate Peter Obi can be equated with an independent candidate.

Yesufu said Obi is running on the Labor Party platform because the law does not allow an individual to run as an independent candidate.

His statement is contained in a post via his verified Twitter account on Wednesday.

Yesufu, a staunch Obi supporter, was reacting to a tweet alleging that the Labor Party structure in Kwara State was being sabotaged.

She said that what matters is that people are with Obi.

She wrote, "I've told everyone many times that Peter Obi is like an independent running for a party because the law requires it. Partying is not the strength of Peter Obi. People are his strength!

"And as long as the people are with him, that's all that matters. If you don't sell and I don't sell and other supporters don't sell, who cares if some party members sell out? Aren't we clearing out the rest of the party en masse?"
