Presidential polls: INEC declares Obi winner in the Plateau

The Labor Party, LP candidate, Peter Obi has been declared the winner of the presidential election in Plateau State.

Obi won in eleven of the state's 17 local government areas, while Tinubu and Atiku won three LGAs respectively.

The Labor Party candidate won the LGAs of Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Jos East, Langtang North, Bokkos, Mangu, Bassa, Jos South, Shendam, Pankshin and Jos North, while the ruling APC candidate , Bola Tinubu, won in Wase, Kanam and Kanke LGA and PDP, Atiku Abubakar won in Quaan Pan, Langtang South and Mikang LGA.

Declaring the results, the state returning officer for the presidential election, Professor Shehu Abdulrahman, said the Labor Party candidate had received 466,272 votes.

The ruling APC candidate, Tinubu, received 307,195 votes, and the PDP's Atiku obtained 243,808 votes.

He commended all officers and other key stakeholders for their orderly conduct throughout the process, urging them to do the same in subsequent elections.

In his remarks, Resident Electoral Commissioner Oliver Agundu commended the security agencies for their efforts to ensure a smooth exercise, and urged them to maintain their support for the commission in their upcoming polls.< /p>

He also commended the media for their professional conduct in covering the exercise.
