The Actors Guild gets a new exco

The Actors Guild of Nigeria has elected new members of the National Executive Council to direct the affairs of the body for the next three years.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the new leadership was elected on Tuesday evening at the end of the Nollywood Stakeholder Summit 2022 held in Benin City, Edo State.

As many as 120 delegates from 20 states voted in the elections, which were held at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub.

The election was overseen by NEC President Steve Eboh and Guild Board Chair Emma Ogugua.

The guild's outgoing national president, Emeka Rollas, was reelected, while Nazareth Jesse, Marcus Maina, Bukky Fagbuyi, Clement Anigbo, Moklese Osain became vice presidents for North-Central, North-East, the southwest, the south. -East and South-South respectively.

Abubakar Sanusi won his bid to become AGN General Secretary, while Chelsea Nwodo became the Guild's Deputy Secretary.

Other elected officers are Emeka Duru as Financial Secretary, Oby Okafor as Treasurer, David Akuma as Director of Guild Services, and Kea Adams as Provost.

Speaking on behalf of the new leadership, Rollas said the new leadership would consolidate the successes of the AGN over the past three years and be more committed to the welfare of members.

He therefore called on members across the country to avoid all divisive tendencies and work with the new leaders to build a formidable guild.

"I can say today that all we have done over the past three years has been to lay the foundations, so let's come together and build on the successes we have achieved so far," said he said.

Rollas, who was first elected AGN National President in 2019, said a date would soon be announced for the inauguration of the new leadership.
