Sarah Lancashire says 'terrible menopause' affects her memory

Actress Sarah Lancashire says she is going through 'the most terrible menopause' and is suffering from 'brain fog.

< p class="ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10">Star of BBC crime series Happy Valley said she was suffering from hot flashes at the National TV Awards (NTA ) from last week.

She told the Mail on Sunday that she needed two fans "almost in my face all the time" to calm down during the ceremony.

Lancashire, 58, plays Sergeant Catherine Cawood in Happy Valley.

The actress won Best Drama Performance at the NTAs and also received this year's Special Recognition Award, presented by Sir Ian McKellen.

Speaking of brain fog, she described a recent shopping trip during which she forgot what she had gone to buy.

"J 'Was in Sainsbury's the other day, and I stood there in the aisle, not remembering why I was there,' she said.

"It invades you all of a sudden. I also don't remember what happened 30 years ago."
