Subsidy: Ebonyi ALGON boss, Ogodo-Ali pleads with Nigerians to be patient with Tinubu

The President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Ebonyi State Chapter, Mr. Ogodo Ali Nomeh, has urged Nigerians to be patient with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, especially with the removal of fuel subsidies in the country.

He said the Tinubu-led administration will soon release its planned palliatives for the country's citizens to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidies.

Ogodo-Ali made this known in an interview with reporters a few hours before the courtesy visit by the Deputy Inspector General of Police Zone 9, AIG Echeng Echeng.

Ogodo-Ali, who is the chairman of Ezza North Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, however, disapproved of the arbitrary fuel price hike by oil traders in the country.

According to him: "The truth is that there is no building without destruction, as some people are already feeling the pain, but I believe in time things will normalize. The fuel subsidy is what has held Nigeria to ransom. It is good that it has been removed.

"We need to study it and see how the economy of the country will develop over the next six months. It will actually help us to take a position on whether the removal of fuel subsidies is good or bad. There must be inflation after the removal of the subsidy. There must be a way to cushion the effect on people.

“With every change, some people will cry, while others will smile. And this is one of the changes we have been waiting for because change is inevitable. Majority of people in the country are suffering from the removal of subsidies, but we believe that with patience we will overcome this and have a laugh in the end,” he said.
