Taraba: Three APC gubernatorial hopefuls boycott primary resumption

There appears to be no end to the crisis rocking the Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC.

This became evident on Thursday after some of the party's gubernatorial candidates decided to boycott the party's primary rerun scheduled for tomorrow.

The aspirants, who our correspondent noted have expressed interest in boycotting the exercise, are Chief David Sabo Kente, the incumbent Senator representing Taraba Central, Engineer Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf and Senator Anthony Manzo.

Stressing that "we will not be participating in any inter-house social gatherings tomorrow in Jalingo, the time when we could participate in any primary election has passed."

Citing the judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, which had previously ordered new primary elections, the party's refusal to comply with the trial judge's directive, they said, necessitated their actions.

Recall that the Supreme Court, recently confirmed the decision of the Federal High Court of Jalingo, the situation that led to the cancellation of the emergence of Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, as the party's candidate for governor .

The aggrieved aspirants, who have vowed to distance themselves from the exercise, unanimously agreed that “for now, any APC-led primary election in Taraba State is illegal.”< /p>

Questioning why the party is taking such paths, when the Supreme Court that overturned the primary did not order a new gubernatorial primary, they said "we don't need to participate in such a jamboree".

Considering that the exercise would be a waste of resources, a waste of time and also a waste of energy, the probability of the exercise starting peacefully and ending peacefully, they said, "is zero".

Hundreds of armed security personnel, the majority of whom are soldiers, at the time of writing, have been observed keeping vigil in strategic areas of Jalingo, the state capital.< /p>
