We've been starving for a week - Nollywood actors Cynthia Okereke and Agbogidi recount kidnapping ordeal

Nollywood actors Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornell aka Agbogidi have recounted their week-long ordeal with their captors.

In a Facebook video posted by the Chairperson of Ene Brown, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Enugu State, Okereke said she was happy to be alive.

The actors were reported missing on July 28 after their family members confirmed they had not returned from a filming location in Ozalla Town, Enugu State.

The kidnappers contacted their families, demanding a ransom of $100,000.

They would later mock AGN for raising a paltry 1.2 million naira as a ransom for their release.

Famous actress Kate Henshaw then launched a change.org petition.

The petition challenged the federal government not only to secure the release of the kidnapped actors, but also to end insecurity across the country.

After ten days in captivity, the actors were released and taken to the Unique Grace Foundation Hospital in Enugu for a medical check.

The AGN recorded the video after they were discharged from the hospital.

TEXEM Advert I will keep playing – Okereke

In the three-minute video, Okereke said the unfortunate incident did not deter her.

She said, "My BP is high, but to God be the glory for you all. Your efforts and prayers have ensured Cynthia's survival. I will act for you and continue to work for you.

The dynamic actress revealed that she was detained for a week without food or water.

"They thought I was leaving, but I'm not. For a good week I was there without water or food. But today I say God be all the glory forever and forever,” she added.

Rest time – Agbogidi

Also speaking, Agbogidi, who also goes by the nickname of Nollywood's chief priest, said he was exhausted and needed a rest.

He said, "I just got out of the hospital. But I thank God the doctor saw me, and everything was fine. I appreciate you all. I'm a little weak, so I I will soon go home to rest.'

He also thanked AGN State Chapter President Ene Brown for not relenting in his efforts to save him.
