Power outages hit more than 1,000 towns and villages in Ukraine after a series of Russian attacks.

The Kremlin has killed more than 70 people in the past fortnight after ordering rocket and drone fire on Ukrainian cities.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said 30% of Ukrainian power plants were destroyed in the blitz. Sections of Kyiv were left without water and electricity following more explosions today.

Speaking at a briefing in the capital on Tuesday, an emergency spokesperson said: "From October 7 to 18, following the bombardment of energy facilities, approximately 4,000 settlements in 11 regions [of Ukraine] were isolated. .

"Currently, according to the Department of Energy, 1,162 settlements remain without power."

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said the body of an elderly woman was found today under the rubble of a building destroyed yesterday by a Russian "Kamikaze" drone.
