A pedophile who had stalked a teenage girl for three years broke into the family home and shot her in the neck before turning the gun on himself, we learned.

Obsessed Selim Tekin, 28, had been following victim Beyza Dogan since she was just 13, her family in Istanbul, Turkey said.

But after the family reported him to the police, he broke into their home and shot a terrified 16-year-old Beyza in the neck on August 6.

He then turned the gun on himself and pulled the trigger, local media reported.

Both initially survived the shooting but died within hours of each other in hospital - Beyza on August 8 and Tekin the following day.

The teenager's father, Cuma, told local media that Tekin first contacted his daughter on Instagram.

He believes he harassed his daughter because she rejected his advances.

Tekin - according to local media - was facing charges of child sexual abuse and sex with a minor.

He was also subject to an indefinite restraining order prohibiting him from contacting his victim.

Local media reported that he spent a short time in police custody, but was released while the investigation was ongoing.
