Irish pro-IRA singers under UEFA investigation

October 14 - UEFA is investigating "potential inappropriate behaviour" by Republic of Ireland players after they sang a pro-IRA chant after their World Cup play-off victory over Scotland.

Video footage has circulated on social media following Tuesday night's 1-0 win at Hampden Park of the players chanting "Ooh aah up the ira" in the locker room.

Republic boss Vera Pauw and the Football Association of Ireland have both issued apologies for the incident, but UEFA are taking a closer look.

European football's governing body has confirmed that an ethics and disciplinary inspector will oversee the case, with information on this to be made available "in due course".

On Wednesday, Republic coach Vera Pauw said the team had apologized "from the bottom of their hearts".
