Remember These 9 Things When Another Christian Disappoints You

Matthew 7:3-5 says, "Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do you not notice the log that is in your eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye,' when there is the log in your eye? Hypocrite, first remove the log from your eye, and then you will see how to remove the speck from your your brother's eye."

Responding to the sin of others with disgust or feelings of self-satisfaction is like worrying about a bit of sawdust in a friend's eye as a two-by-four pops out of ours. Our sin has a way of blinding us to how we miss the mark and making us hypersensitive to how others are failing.

Although the Bible teaches us to lovingly remind other Christians of God's calling us to live, that is not our primary mission. We need to be more concerned about sin in our own lives.

When you see the impact of sin in someone else's life, take the opportunity to evaluate your own life. Repeat King David's prayer and ask the Lord to remove all sin from your heart.

Search me, O God, and know my heart!Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there is any painful way in me, and lead me in the eternal way! (Ps. 139:23–24).
