Rod Stewart pays for scanners at NHS hospital to reduce waiting lists

Sir Rod Stewart has paid for a day's worth of MRI scans for patients at his local NHS hospital in a bid to help reduce waiting lists.

The singer, who lives in Essex, went to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow as scans were underway.

Last month he phoned Sky News live and offered to pay for people to have scans in hospital, just back from a scanner himself.

Mr. Rod said he wanted to "prove that I'm not all mouth and pants".

The gift of 77-year-old man covers a day of scans for patients, who were being performed at private healthcare company InHealth's mobile MRI unit at the hospital site.
