Russian authorities are considering closing the borders to men of military age, a source close to the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation said.

The Kremlin source told Meduza, an independent Russian news site, that the ban will likely go into effect on Wednesday, September 28.

On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave an extraordinary speech and announced an immediate "partial mobilization" in an effort to replenish frontline ranks in Ukraine.

Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu gave more details about the decree, saying the mobilization would only affect Russians with previous military experience and that around 300,000 people would be called up.

But in fact, the decree itself gives much broader terms, causing Russians to fear that a larger project may occur in the future.

This led to a mass exodus of Russian men of military age, fleeing the country to avoid conscription.

Men who have avoided war so far felt like they had been "thrown through the meat grinder".

Airfares have skyrocketed and tickets to countries that do not require visas, such as Turkey and Azerbaijan, have sold out.
