Labour MP sacked by Keir Starmer after leading TV interviews from a picket line warned the party leader he risked being "blown away" by his failure to take strong action on the cost of living crisis.

Writing in The Independent, Sam Tarry said Starmer cannot lead Labor to an election victory against a new Tory Prime Minister unless Labor believes he “stands with them” in the face of to soaring prices and falling living standards.

The party should be backing workers' demands for wage increases to keep pace with inflation, he said . such as a pandemic-style holiday for low-income households, taxes on oil company excess profits, tighter price caps, or the nationalization of power companies.
