At first bat Scotland went 133-6 from their 20 overs, with Saskia Horley leading with 52 in Edinburgh .

Ireland lost Gaby Lewis for eight and Amy Hunter for 16, but a partnership at the third wicket 99 between Prendergast and Laura Delany saw the visiting team go home 137-2 with 22 balls to spare.

Captain Delany finished 36 not out.

The parties will reconvene on Tuesday and Thursday.

Horley hit it 52 from 42, expertly backed by flyhalf Ailsa Lister 25 from 19.

Scots put 31 for the first wicket before Lister was dismissed and after losing two more wickets at a lower cost, a fourth wicket of 65 between Horley and Lorna Jack put them on a stronger footing.

Arlene Kelly was the choice of Irish bowlers with digits from 2 to 12.

Prendergast hit him 75 of 45 with Delany's 36 of 35.

Ireland entered the series with a 3-0 ODI series win over the Netherlands.
