What's your favorite horror movie? The fifth installment in Wes Craven's meta slasher franchise, "Scream," was a delightful surprise for a January horror movie. Dropping the title number, 2022's "Scream" was a riff on the "re-quel," the Hollywood trend of rebooting a franchise through a marriage of returning characters and new faces to take up the torch. p>

And they must carry on the torch! Controversially, Neve Campbell, Sidney Prescott's "Scream," will not be returning for the upcoming sixth film. In his own words, "I felt the offer presented to me did not match the value I brought to the franchise."

While we are sad to part ways with Sidney Prescott, and under such unfair circumstances, it will be interesting if 'Scream' can hold its weight as it makes the franchise's most drastic departure to this day. If you're dealing with Westboro's withdrawal, we have good news! Today, Paramount Pictures made some major changes to its 2023 release schedule. "Scream 6" has passed its original date, now slated for a theatrical release on March 10, 2023. Considering the previous film was released on January 14, it's pretty impressive that Paramount managed to work on the sequel ASAP when the initial success of the re-telling was up in the air. "Scream 6" and its new March 10 release date puts the follow-up at roughly two months over a year since the 2022 film, maintaining a steady momentum for fan interest.
