Shimron Hetmyer: West Indies striker ruled out of Men's T20 World Cup after missing flight

Hetmyer's flight was moved from Saturday to Monday for family reasons, meaning he would miss the first of two T20 warm-ups against Australia on Wednesday.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) said he had "no choice but to replace him".

CWI Director of Cricket Jimmy Adams said: "As we changed the flight of Shimron from Saturday to Monday due for family reasons, it was made clear to him that if there were any further delays and issues with his trip to Australia, we would be I have no choice but to replace in the team.

"We are not prepared to compromise the ability of the team to prepare for this hugely important global event."

Antilles start their T20 World Cup campaign against Scotland in the first round group stage at Bellerive Oval in Hobart on October 17.

As well as two matches warm-up matches against Australia, Phil Simmons' team will also face the United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands in preparation for the tournament.

Adams has confirmed that Brooks, 34, would be flying out ASAP to meet the team.
